Case Study - Manual Printing

Challenge:  Produce computer product manuals, quickly, for a national supply chain management company.  Dependability is a must in order to keep the manufacturing process moving with no down time.

Roadblock:  Shipping time was 3-4 days making the turn-times impossible and deadlines were in jeopardy.  Rising fuel costs had also become a problem.

Rich Printing Company Solution:  Rich Printing Company was able to have the customer supply the paper and have it shipped to our warehouse directly from the paper mill.  We inventory millions of pounds of paper, so as the orders arrive, they’re processed quickly.  Also, the customer had a 112-page project and Rich Printing Company has the ability to run this in only 2 press runs as 2-56 page signatures (one or more printed sheets folded to form a multiple page section of a book or manual) where other suppliers were printing this as 3-32’s and 1-16.  Because of our faster web press print runs, we can manufacture the product much faster.  

Result:  We were able to improve the turn times by 33%, reduce shipping costs by over 25% and eliminate paper storage issues for the customer.  In addition, we enabled the customer to get his manual unit cost at a competitive price due to our pressroom capabilities.
