Case Study - Book Printing

Challenge:  Produce a large quantity of 5 ½” x 8 ½” size books printing on 33# newsprint paper.

Roadblock:  The customer was using a large web printer to produce their books but wanted another printer that could improve the quality and turn times.  The customer wanted to reduce the per unit book cost by 10%.

Rich Printing Company Solution:  Rich Printing Company suggested they reduce the size of the book to 5 3/8” x 8 3/8”, which would allow them to print the book “2 up” on our web printing presses.  This allowed for production of the books on the UV web printing press in half the time it would have taken on a smaller press.  The quality was improved due to the UV web printing versus a coldest or heatset web press.

Result:  Rich Printing Company improved the quality of the book and reduced the per unit book cost by 16%.
